wedding: very simple religious ceremony, which we were 15 minutes late to because S had forgotten his camera and needed to go back home for it (it would play a pivotal role in things at the reception). they put in a nice little twist at the end: instead of doing a receiving line at the back of the church, they had everybody stay in the pews and the bride and groom came from row to row and greeted everybody in their seats. while everyone waited for their turn, there was a powerpoint slide show playing up on the altar of photos of them as kids. it was really cool. although... during the ceremony, whoever was up in the balcony with the laptop for the powerpoint thing must have been distracted... because the projector was on standby, and the guy's screensaver came on and started projecting the windows logo right onto the cross over the altar. it was pretty funny, a lot of people had a little chuckle over that.

reception: very simple and traditional... we were seated at a table with both his and her co-workers, and it turns out i semi-knew one of the guys (he's the president of a company my department uses a lot to make training videos and stuff). S was a maniac with the camera... there's a running joke at their office about this block of crystal with a unicorn etched into it (they sell them at the mall, you can have any photo etched into this big chunk of crystal, they're cheesy)... so they'd bought one with a bride and groom in it as a joke for the bride, and S had stolen it off her desk... all through the reception, he gave this thing to various people so he could take their picture with it -- the limo driver, the mother of the groom, people at our table... it was photographed on serving trays, on the bar, you name it. we even got a photo of it with the bride in the picture as her back was turned to us. S finally let her in on it at the end of the reception, but wait 'til she gets the actual photos... won't she be surprised when she sees the shot of the bride and groom from the wedding next door, holding the crystal thing and grinning. (they were really good sports about it when S came over to their reception for the photo. *chuckle*)

and yes, S and i danced like fools the whole night... he even tried his hand at swing dancing, and i have the sore arms and back this morning to prove it. hee. everyone at the table LOVED the story of how we met... the one guy had assumed we'd been dating for quite a while, and when we told the story he was like, "wait, you've known each other for 6 DAYS???" and spent the rest of the evening trying to convince us that we should actually date because we had "good chemistry" and would probabaly end up married. *chucklesnort* no, i don't think there will be dating in this case. but S and i did get along really well, and he may come out salsa dancing at brasil's one of these fridays. so, yay! new friend!

oh, and photo of us at the reception:
