the movers'll be here in a half hour. ugh. packing yesterday took a bit longer than i thought, but it was probably a good thing... once you're fully packed, it's a very lonely feeling. the cable box is turned in so there's no tv to distract you, all of your belongings are in boxes, and you're too exhausted to go out and do anything. so prolonging the packing meant i was able to go to bed pretty soon after i was done.

i took a break last night to have my last (resident) dinner in the square. i decided on dragon garden... they've made a million deliveries to me over the last few years, and the people there are just so nice. plus they make the best crab rangoons ever, and there are no crab rangoons in philly (*weep*). so i had a nice leisurely dinner there in the restaurant, chatted with nthe staff, read a couple of the local free rags (the weekly dig... another thing i'll miss), then came back and took a long hot soak for my back and crashed around 9. couldn't sleep, even though i was tired... so i got back up and went online, and priced out some entertainment centers for the new place. they're all really ugly, or really expensive. darnit.

so, here i sit, amidst all my boxes of crap, about to leave the best apartment i've ever had. the apartment i found to live with J2, and that i decided to keep after he moved out a year later. the place where monkey spent her last years, where we cuddled together the morning before she passed away. my first "city" dwelling... walking distance from a vibrant social scene and the subway to take me into one of my favorite cities in the world. i had a pretty good cry this morning, thinking of what i'm leaving behind. i know things'll be fine in philly, but it's just not the same... living in davis square was just so... me.

in 8 hours i'll be unpacking my new life. eek.

well, i made it in one piece. managed to get down here in a record 5 1/4 hours (the drive to boston on friday took 6 1/2). the movers are coming tomorrow instead of tonight, 'cause they missed the narrow window we had to move in (this place doesn't allow move-ins past 6pm. argh.) the moving guys are really nice -- young, friendly, cool, and they like my car. and the fact that i named angus after angus young. 'nuff said. :)

angus is once again getting used to a new living arrangement. he needs to scope out all his comfy spots... so far he's partial to the entrance to the kitchen and the sink in my vanity. *chuckle* and he's talking up a storm again. between "yiiieeeeee"s though, he's purring to beat the band. could it be that he actually missed me??? is there love for me somewhere in this little dude's heart? or is it perhaps a ploy to get more crunchies... hmmm...

my first meal down here was an italian hoagie. okay, i bought it in the supermarket when i went to get toilet paper... but there's something about a hoagie made in philly, even the ones in the Acme market taste good.

the list of stuff i need for my apartment is a mile long... microwave, towels, sheets... replacements for all the crappy old worn-out things i threw out before i moved. i could wait until this weekend and get them on sale... but the thought of dealing with the post-thanksgiving crowds is enough to give me a panic atack. i gotta think about this.

in the meantime, i have 2 new magazines to keep me company ("real simple" and "cosmo") and a smirnoff ice with my name on it.

*waves hi to everyone*
