catch-up

i'm SO glad i went dancing last night. i actually went to swing city for the first time in almost a year. i had to get my "lindy feet" back on (hard to do after learning west coast swing for the whole time i'd been gone), but i think i pulled it off okay. got to reconnect with several old friends, had sushi and great conversation with a buddy before the dance, and even had a cheesy pick up line directed at me ("hi there, mystery woman... who are you, and why aren't you dancing?" BWAhahaha...) got home around midnight, and monkey crawled onto the air mattress for an adorable snuggle before i fell asleep. awwww.

in other news, i am thinking about re-leaving a community on here i belong to. i joined the "philadelphia" group a year or so ago, since i'm originally from there and might move back for work at some point. i always love to have a pulse on what's going on in the city, it makes me feel more connected. the problem is that the mods of the community are pretty young, and they love to use the community to start flame wars and stuff (even though it says "no flame wars" in their community rules). i left the community a few months ago after a particularly bad one, but all the posts were normal after that, so i re-joined. but now, there's this post, (created by one of the mods, no less) that has me seriously re-thinking it.

silly me to think that a city-focused community should be handled with taste, and not used for racist, drunken posts by the moderators and their friends. ugh.

my super sweet 35

yes, i watch a lot of tv that is meant for a much younger demographic. but i'm sorry, "my super sweet 16" on MTV is so awesome in its spoiled-kid, indulgent-parent train wreck-ness.

but of course, being me, i got to thinking about my upcoming 35th birthday... and decided that instead of doing a tiny dinner with a few people or something, i wanted to par-tay. so my birthday celebration has now morphed into a full-on rockstar party at the boston nightclub felt, complete with private seating area and a VIP list at the door. let's talk about HOW FREAKIN' PSYCHED i am now! AAAAIIIIEEEEEE!!!!!!

and oh... if anyone's looking to get me a gift, this would do nicely. *drool* but all i want to know is, what idiots bid on something a WEEK before the auction is over? they've already driven the price way too high. blargh.
