i'm SO glad i went dancing last night. i actually went to swing city for the first time in almost a year. i had to get my "lindy feet" back on (hard to do after learning west coast swing for the whole time i'd been gone), but i think i pulled it off okay. got to reconnect with several old friends, had sushi and great conversation with a buddy before the dance, and even had a cheesy pick up line directed at me ("hi there, mystery woman... who are you, and why aren't you dancing?" BWAhahaha...) got home around midnight, and monkey crawled onto the air mattress for an adorable snuggle before i fell asleep. awwww.

in other news, i am thinking about re-leaving a community on here i belong to. i joined the "philadelphia" group a year or so ago, since i'm originally from there and might move back for work at some point. i always love to have a pulse on what's going on in the city, it makes me feel more connected. the problem is that the mods of the community are pretty young, and they love to use the community to start flame wars and stuff (even though it says "no flame wars" in their community rules). i left the community a few months ago after a particularly bad one, but all the posts were normal after that, so i re-joined. but now, there's this post, (created by one of the mods, no less) that has me seriously re-thinking it.

silly me to think that a city-focused community should be handled with taste, and not used for racist, drunken posts by the moderators and their friends. ugh.

OMG ... those threads!

I've joined and subequently ditched all of the local communities because they became a forum for ridiculous shit. And what wasn't ridiculous was, instead, band gig announcements for the 18-to-21 set.

interesting... i got a reply back from said mod saying that he wasn't responsible for the link, so could post whatever links he wanted... then i clicked on the thread again, and it's gone. i'd love to know whose choice it was to boot it. *grin*

i left the philly community as well, for 2 reasons. you know the first, and the second was that the material was not stuff i wanted to read. i don't care for the vicious personal attacks, nor do i think it's appropriate for a community-focussed forum. figuring that those folks wouldn't take well to my observations/suggestions to that effect, i just left. live and let live, i suppose.

yeah. during the last flame war (the "furrie" debate), i actually posted a reply to one of the mods... i reminded him that the community is one for an entire city, and that there ARE people older than 25 on there who expect the mods to be mature and not dive into/start any crap. of course, i got flamed back, and then both posts were deleted. *sigh*.
