monday blahs
Aug. 15th, 2005 05:28 amhad a good weekend... can't believe it's monday. ugh. i'm sooo tempted to take tomorrow as a vacation day... maybe get a massage, go to the movies... hrm.
yesterday was fun, D and i went to 2 parties. first one was a chocolate-tasting party... one of the dancers here in boston has been really into trying out different chocolate/flavoring combinations, so he and his fiancee decided to invite everyone over for a taste test. it was very clever -- he cooked up the different chocolate combos, and then poured it all into little round molds, so that all the flavors were the same size and shape. then he unmolded each flavor into a container and labelled them A through E... as you tried one from each container, you took a slip with the corresponding letter and put it in a bin marked "love it", "ambivalent", or "hate it". the combos were good -- white chocolate with cardamom, white with nutmeg (i think), dark with curry powder (eh), dark with cinnamon... and there was one, i forget the combo, but D insisted it tasted like fish. lol it was a fun time, i got to hang out with a bunch of people i hadn't seen in quite a while (hi
katehaney! *waves*). and, as is typical, i showed once again why i am not a mother... a couple of people brought their adorable babies, and my first thought was, "hey, should little kids be here? it's dangerous for babies to eat chocolate..." only to realize that NO, it's dogs and cats that aren't supposed to eat chocolate. *sigh*.
after the chocolate-fest, D and i went to L1's for a bit, to celebrate her b-day/upcoming trip to italy/moving in with her b.f. we ended up geeking out and watching dance competition videos for a couple of hours. D impressed me, he could pick up the differences between lindy and west coast swing and even the different styles within lindy. now if only i could drag him to a dance...
speaking of which, swing city is closing in a few months. i'm so bummed. i haven't been there in ages, but it's the only big weekly dance in the city... the one place where people get dressed up to go out and dance, and it's a friday night no less. argh. i hope they're able to find a replacement venue...
