subtract one minute of fame.
Feb. 18th, 2005 07:18 amlooks like i'm going to be on TV in a few weeks. there's a local tv show here called "chronicle", sort of a local-interest show that comes on after the news for a half hour... for the philly folks here, it's akin to "evening magazine" (is that still around?). anyway, they're doing an upcoming show on local social clubs in boston, and they've decided that mensa is totally happenin' and must be a part of the story. guess who got nominated to be interviewed for the mensa segment? you betcha. this should be a hoot.

Date: 2005-02-18 01:16 pm (UTC)Philadelphia trivia for you:
a) Remember when Jerry Penacoli was a cub reporter for Channel 3?
b) Bonus question: Okay, remember the widespread rumor about him, why he left Channel 3, and something about gerbils?
No, seriously. This one comes with references: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerbilling
As far as Mensa, I don't think there's too many beautiful, outgoing or gregarious people they could come up with. They should be paying you for that kind of advertising. ::cough, chuckle:: They should be paying you well.
Yawmp.

Date: 2005-02-19 06:20 am (UTC)I've been invited to do the mensa thing a few times, but have always turned it down as more people wanting my money. What do you actually all get together and do?

Date: 2005-02-19 12:26 pm (UTC)as far as what we do, it's a social club, so it's mostly parties at peoples' houses and get-togethers at local bars and restaurants. there's a group that shoots pool at flat top johnny's once a month, and another that does a bad movie marathon twice a year. and of course there's the occasional astronomy or political lecture. :)
