day 3 of this sonic death cold. jeez. i actually feel worse today than i did yesterday. turns out i'm not the only one in my group who's sick... at least one of my co-workers has the same thing. i'd love to know who gave it to us, so i can sock 'em in the mouth.

my car is absolutely buried outside. no lie. i'll have to take a photo of it before the ex and his roomie dig it out. the snow is over the WINDOWS. no-one on my street is completely shovelled out... most people got halfway through yesterday and were too exhausted to continue. it was a -20 wind chiil, and the winds were fierce, so i'm impressed people did anything at all.

there were some sad stories from the storm yesterday. most heartbreaking was a little boy, i think he was 10, who died... he was playing in the falling snow with his friends, and was getting cold, but he knew if he went into his apartment they'd have him come in for the night... so he climbed in the family car and started it up to warm up. but the tailpipe was blocked with snow... and he died of carbon monoxide poisoning. the poor thing. they also showed a lot of people whose homes were ruined... south of boston they got about 32 inches, and the shoreline was hit really bad with all the wind and everything. the homes that were a block or so from the ocean, actually got frozen shut. i've never seen anything like it. the roads flooded with sea water, the strong winds blew it onto the houses, and the cold sealed it up as ice. so people couldn't get in or out. one man who had an oceanfront home showed what had happened to him... the waves actually washed up and broke a window, pouring tons of water inside, which then froze. so the inside of his house is a skating rink.

so even though i'm bummed about being sick, i'm much better off today than other people. have to be thankful for that.

oh, and go pats and "iggles". who the hell am i gonna root for in that game???

While I do feel bad for people who had terible things happen to them in the storm I have to question a few things.

1. how did the boy start up the car? Did he have the keys or were they in the car? If he did have the keys or they were in the car then I blame the parents (oops, sorry I mean the babys mother) for being stupid and neglegently causing the death of their boy.

2. As for the people in Hull and other shore towns that got "iced in". That does suck but such is the price you pay for living next to the ocean. Its not the first time this ever happened and it wont be the last.

3. To the guy whose windows got knocked in. What was he thinking? He lives 6 feet from the retaining wall and didnt have shutters, let alone huricane shutters on his window. What did he think was going to happen?

The people I feel bad for are those who lost power or communications due to the inability of the power company to start burring lines. Once they put all lines underground we wont have these problems any more.

Good luck getting out.

i actually thought that for a sec about the little boy... how the hell did he have the keys to the car? doesn't change the fact that it's a huge shame... he shouldn't have had to lose his life because his parents weren't paying enough attention.

and you're right with the whole ocean thing, that's why homeowners insurance is so high when you're beachfront. but CRAP, what a sucky thing to go through!
