holy crud... according to the news, this weekend's snowstorm could be the worst in boston history. we have 20" so far, and they're anticipating another 10 in some areas. needless to say, you can barely see anything on my street because it's all just buried. yikes. the mayor has declared a state of emergency for the next 2 days, so it's likely that i won't be at work at least tomorrow. i hope i will tuesday, 'cause i'm going stir-crazy.
if anything, the snow gave me the chance to get a ton done yesterday: 4 loads of laundry, 8 pages of my CV, 2 loads of dishes, filing, hauling 8 trips of big boxes down to my storage unit... ran some errands on foot in the square... i read an entire book ("eleanor rigby" by douglas coupland) and watched a lot of "i love the 90s" as well. i'm STILL sick as a dog, which isn't helped by the fact that 1. my heat isn't working very well and 2. i had to sleep with no blankets last night, because one of the cats decided to be cute and pee on my comforter after i'd used up all my quarters for laundry and the storm was raging outside (i'd soaked their litterbox in bleach to disinfect it, and i guess i let it soak too long and they had to go. dammit.) so somehow i need to get out of here and get change, probably tomorrow, 'cause everything's shut down today.
one big shocker is that the ex and his roomie are going to come over at some point and shovel me out! last year there was a pretty bad storm, and the ex and i had quite a tense day because i asked for his help shovelling, and his response was, "it's not MY car." i reminded him that in that case, MY car would not be taking him to the mall anymore, or the supermarket, and certainly not home on the holidays. after finally offering to buy him lunch at his favorite indian place if he'd help, he grumbled and grabbed my shovel and came outside to help me out. so here i am this year, really sick and in no shape to shovel 2 feet of snow, and i cringed yesterday and wrote him and his roomie an e-mail asking if they could bring a shovel over and help out once the storm let up. i braced myself for the backlash. instead (and i think it was because of his roomie), he said yes... and so the 2 of them are coming over probably tomorrow to partake in the joy of hauling heavy snow. i WILL buy them dinner for this, and it'll be my pleasure.
i guess i should get a shower now. i haven't bathed in 2 days. eek.
