hi! *waves*
god, i didn't know what to do with myself yesterday while LJ was down... i was cleaning the apartment, and every few minutes i'd check the computer. you don't realize what you've got til it's gone...
friday night was a lot of fun, there was a west coast swing dance benefit for the tsunami victims. there was a great turnout, the music rocked, and everyone had a great time. the one bummer was that i barely danced... i'd offered to help with the door, thinking that there'd be a bunch of us, i'd help for an hour or two, and then dance the rest of the night. except only one other person helped out, and she showed up late and then would run out to dance while i was doing something. i finally looked at my watch and saw that i'd been there almost 4 hours and hadn't danced a single step yet, and i put my foot down and said she needed to hold down the fort for a bit. i danced maybe 20 minutes out of the whole night... so i'm not sure how often i'll help out with future dances, if they're not going to be staffed well.
highlight of the night: one of the total rockstar dancers in the area asked me to dance at the end of the night. i'd never danced with him before, didn't know that he even knew i existed on this planet... but when the crowd thinned out, he asked me to dance. i held my own, considering i had changed out of my dance shoes and was wearing flip-flops... and he was super-nice. yay!
yesterday was a lot of catch-up during the day... chores, cooking for the week, and replacing the digital camera that was stolen on new year's eve (grrrr). at dinnertime was the get-together for my girlfriend who legally changed her first name (the party i showed up at a month early in december). then i met up with
the_cook and some others to see mike barrett*, the raunchiest irish folk singer in all of boston. mike's a blast to watch in performance, plus he's a super-nice guy. so we caught him at a bar up in malden where there was an obnoxious rowdy party going on, then he came out with us for drinks afterwards at a much better place.
today will be fun, manis and pedis with L2 later this afternoon. nice way to end the weekend.
*if you listen to any of the songs on that link... my personal faves are "old macdonald's deformed farm", "vanilla", and the ever-popular "wankin' song".
