swingchickieso, last night i got dressed up and went to celebrate my friend's legal name change. it was at an awesome local restaurant i'd always wanted to try, this french/cambodian place about 1/4 mile from my apartment. the restaurant was amazing, everything was very festive, it was really nice... except for the fact that i was one month early. i waited over 1/2 hour at the bar, alone, before i finally called my friend D to ask where he was... he was like, "uh, jenn, it's in january". *sigh* i'm known for being early, but this was ridiculous.
on the walk home, i stopped in this place around the corner from me called "pemberton farms"... i'd never been in it before even though it was so close, because i just didn't figure i had a need for much there. it's a little farmer's market place that sells xmas trees in winter and flowers in the summer. i went inside to look around, figuring it was mostly flowers and maybe some produce... but oh... my... god. it was amazing in there. this little market was packed to the gills with every imaginable gourmet food -- handmade chocolates, small-batch preserves, infused oils and artisan cheeses... fresh-baked cakes and breads... and wonderful locally-grown produce. it was magnificent. since i hadn't had dinner, i grabbed a wedge of brie and some crostini, and had a lovely little meal at home before i went dancing.
dancing was a blast, i barely sat down all night (and my back is paying for it this morning). everyone was dressed all sparkly for the holidays, and the place was packed. there were dancers from connecticut and rhode island who had come up for the evening, so the crowd was close to double what it normally is at this place. there was also a guy there who i'd met a few times before, he's an amazing dancer and very nice... you always see him smiling and laughing, just a really happy person. i'm not interested in dating again yet, but if i were, it would be with someone like him. and last night i found out why it would not be exactly with him: 1. he's got a girlfriend (of course), and 2. he's an avid hunter. yup, that 86'ed any minute bit of attraction i'd felt right there. eew.
on tap for today: lots of work stuff that's due tomorrow, wrap my presents, and maybe some mani/pedi time. yay sunday!
