last-minute shopping

swingchickiei finished most of my xmas shopping today. it was the oddest thing... i really expected massive crowds of people shoving each other in every store... i mean, the news has been saying that sales are down this year and everyone was waiting until this weekend's sales to shop. but it was surprisingly quiet out there. i actually woke up super early to get a head start... got up at 6:30am (ugh), grabbed a bagel and some coffee, and then hit target when they opened at 8am. i spent about an hour or so in there, got most of my stuff, and left. i didn't even have to wait in a checkout line, there was a free register as soon as i walked up. is this really the saturday before xmas???
the rest of the morning was spent returning stuff. i had shoes, clothes, and some CDs to return, all told about $200 worth of returns. so most of the returns paid for most of today's xmas presents (yay), and the last return (at marshall's, i didn't have my receipt so i got store credit) paid for a few sparkly outfits for the dance event i'm going to for new year's eve weekend. YAY! the only thing that sucked was bringing everything home... my elevator's broken again, so i had to haul an assload of presents up 4 stories. ugh.
tonight'll be fun... i'm going in a bit to a quick drink get-together for a girlfriend who just legally changed her first name... i like her name, but it's a bit exotic and it's always driven her crazy, so she changed it to something more normal and she's thrilled and wants to celebrate. after that it's off to go dancing for the evening. and tomorrow, hallelujah, is free and clear... nothing to do but wrap presents and relax and read. heaven!
