and the winner is...
Nov. 2nd, 2004 07:47 amwell, i've cast my ballot. got up at 6 this morning and pulled myself together, and i was at the polling place by about 6:30 (another reason to love living in davis square... i only had to walk 4 blocks to vote). at 6:30, there were about 40 of us in line... by 7am the line snaked 4x through the lobby. by the time i voted and walked out (7:15), it snaked about 6 times and went out onto the sidewalk, where people in their work clothes huddled in the cold. everyone was nervous and grinning and happy, making conversation with neighbors and strangers alike. i recognized several people who hang out in the square a lot, but none of my friends. bummer. now i just have to sit and wait and keep my fingers crossed for tonight.
last night was a lot of fun... i got a call yesterday morning from
the_cook, turns out he had flown in from holland this weekend to go to the sox victory parade! we were able to get together for dinner for a few hours, and it was so wonderful to see him after all this time. you know when you miss someone, but you don't realize how much you've missed them until you see them again? we chat on IM once in a while, but being able to hang with him in person again was just the best. he looks fantastic, very relaxed and happy.
well i'm off to work. i'm psyched for this afternoon, i get to finally pick up the cats from the sitter (YAY!) and watch the election coverage.
davissquarecats is having a shindig at his place tonight to follow the results, perhaps i can cram in a dance class before i go over...
