winter's coming. ugh. i don't do well in the winter... between the darkness and the cold, i really hibernate. i have a light box that helps a bit with the whole seasonal-affective-disorder thing, but it doesn't get rid of it totally. now that the days are getting shorter, my body's in a really odd transition mode. usually by this time, i'm exhausted by mid-afternoon, and all i want to do is sleep as soon as i come home from work. but i'm not that exhausted, i think it's because i gave up coffee a few weeks ago to save my stomach. i'm guessing that the lack of caffeine keeps my energy on a more even keel. i don't even need to nap in the afternoons! however, i do have the other big s.a.d. symptom... eating. i really need to go back on south beach this weekend, because i've gained back all my weight (once again). and i don't want to gain more this winter, that'll put me over the edge.

in other news, UPS can bite my (insert body part here). i was expecting a package for work, paperwork that i needed for a meeting this afternoon. it was supposed to be left at my building, no signature required, on wednesday... but UPS doesn't let the drivers leave stuff in the lobby of a building. so instead of my paperwork, i had a slip on my mailbox saying the driver would return the next day between 10:30 and 2. okay, that's the most inconvenient time for 90% of the population. so i did a couple of sales calls first thing in the morning, then rushed back home... figured i'd get the paperwork and then go back out and finish my day. nope. 10:30 came and went... noon... 2pm... no driver. finally at 3pm, i called UPS customer service, and the girl was like, "yeah, that's just a general window. sometime's it's later than that. sorry." a GENERAL WINDOW??? 3 and 1/2 hours isn't a big enough window??? well, i just happened to have the direct phone number for my UPS depot, so i called and told them about the situation... i told them they needed to find out where the driver was so i could meet his van and get my stuff. 10 minutes later, they said he was about 6 blocks away at a business... so i hauled ass down there and found his van. it was now 3:45, almost 2 hours past his due time, and he was just like, "oh yeah, i was going to drop it off later." i wanted to smack him. i rushed towards my sales territory to try to get even one more call in, so my manager wouldn't completely kill me... but with rush hour traffic, i didn't get there until 5. *sigh* no luck. so i sat on my ass all day at home for one piece of paper. effing UPS.

Does UPS do home construction? I always dreamed of having a study with a really big general window on the south side, and they look like they would be right for the job...

sorry you had a suckass day hon. ::hug::
