i shouldn't be amazed, but i am.
May. 17th, 2010 06:17 pmeven though we're back from our cruise, i still visit the cruise critic message boards every few days to see if anyone has a question that i can answer. every time i go on these boards, i am flabbergasted at how paralyzed people can get when planning a vacation, as well as just how gosh-darn dumb they are sometimes. here's a representation of the type of threads that are started all over the boards:
"my cruise in 2 weeks is on the XYZ ship, in cabin 1234. can someone please tell me if you've stayed in this EXACT cabin before, and if it's OK? i'm worried that it won't as good as the 2,000 other identical cabins on the ship and my vacation will be ruined."
"i know there are 10 other threads where people ask if the Blue Hole in jamaica is any fun, but now it's MY question so i'm posting in my own thread -- is the blue hole in jamaica any fun?"
"can you tell me exactly how much i will spend over the course of my cruise, even though you have no idea what my drinking or spending habits are?"
"i can't make a decision on my own... even though there are dozens of threads talking about specific tour guides, who should *I* book for *my* vacation?"
"do you know if celebrity cruises will let me ride with their employees on their employee shuttle to wal-mart when the ship docks in [port name]?" (really? you won't have enough toothpaste to last the week? or do you love wal-mart THAT much?)
*headdesk* i need to stop looking at these boards. it's driving me nuts.

Date: 2010-05-19 02:35 am (UTC)Maybe not, because those Customer Service reps are no longer Customer Service reps.
I remember reading these kinds of questions too, when researching our cruise with a toddler. I thought the ones with specific room numbers were great! I remember one that asked at what angle the sun comes in when in room #xxx. Hahahha!
