whew! productive weekend!
Nov. 8th, 2009 06:50 pmfriday night was a late night at the office, so after grabbing a mexican dinner out with jack i pretty much passed out on his couch within an hour after we got home. but a good night's sleep meant i was raring to go for the rest of the weekend... and i took advantage of it!
my house has been in a horrible state of disarray and dustiness lately, and with the house concert looming on the horizon i really had to get things in order. so besides all the usual weekend things... laundry, grocery shopping, crockpotting food for the week, etc... i had a lot of scrubbing and organizing to do.
first thing to tackle: donating all those clothes to the salvation army. i'd put everything aside last week, but needed to list everything i was giving them for the tax receipt. 10 business suits, 15 pairs of pants, 33 shirts, a dozen pairs of shoes... the list was a page long. when everything was bagged up and delivered, it came to 8 bags of clothes and about $1500 worth of tax writeoff. wow.

another big project: de-ringworm-ing my storage space, now that duck is better. everything from that room has been taking up space in my den, so i had to disinfect it in order to put everything back. i bleached everything: the floor, the walls, the shelves... it smells like a pool in there now. :) being in such a cleaning frenzy, i even took down all of my drapes and washed them, and then jack got inspired and installed a new faucet in my kitchen and took my ceiling fan apart to clean it inside and out. we were en fuego!
duck, on the other hand, spent the weekend being a complete lump... complete opposite of his usual "tear around the house and torture angus" antics. yesterday, he napped with me when i took a little break... then when i got up to keep working, he napped in the kitty condo:

then when jack took a rest, he hunkered down behind his behind:

and when i looked over at them later, they were in full-contact nap mode:

*melt, melt*
so, the house is looking a lot better. even my lawn looks amazing -- i left a message for my lawn guy on friday to see if he could do anything with my leaves (having a lot of trees means my entire lawn is a couple of inches thick with an orange and brown carpet)... yesterday 4 guys showed up with leaf blowers, tarps and rakes... and 2 hours later, my yard didn't have a single leaf on it. it's wild. they even hauled away the 5' tall pile of branches i had stacked up from all my trees losing limbs during the summer storms. i was doing a little happy dance when i saw how much better it all looked.
so, that was pretty much my weekend. lots of work, but a lot to show for it. and of course some kitty snorgling thrown in for good measure. looking forward to next weekend, with much less work and a lot more fun. :) for now, i'm going to sit here and pet angus, watch some CSI reruns, and catch up on my pile of magazines...
