there's something very satisfying about pulling weeds out of the garden while a cool mist rains down on you. i'm not thrilled that fall arrived out of nowhere, but the slightly cooler temps don't suck.

duck is still cute, growing like a weed (up another pound!), and still very much a kitten. the duckus (rhymes with ruckus, which he causes on a daily basis) is at that stage where he's built for speed, but too young to know what to do with it -- he careens around his room like a formula 1 racecar with an 8-year-old behind the wheel. this morning i made the stupid mistake of holding on to his favorite catnip skunk while he was across the room... i looked away for 2 seconds, and in that time he bolted across the room, flew through the air, and landed on my upper thigh... sinking his claws into my leg to grab on while he desperately tried to get the toy out of my hand. OW OW OW.

my "big install" yesterday went well, although i came home exhausted -- a 13-hour day, 6 of those hours spent running around the building in heels (stupid me and my now-ouchy feet) getting everything ready. i hope when everyone sees this stuff hanging around the building on monday morning, it was all worth it.

off to do laundry and then head out to the movies this afternoon... jack will be at a silicone-stripper-boobies-galore bachelor party, so i'm going to a girlie flick. "the september issue" is playing nearby, and i'm looking forward to sitting in the dark watching fashionista catfights with a big vat of popcorn.

oooh oooh ooooh OW

I'm psyched to hear about people's reactions on Monday!

The cat landing sounds ouch though.
