(no subject)

we're waiting for tests to come back to see if the Duckling has ringworm. it looks like he probably does, he's been exposed to it and he has some funky patches of fur on his belly and one paw... but we won't know until early next week. so duck continues to be behind closed doors, quarantined in a room that's easily bleach-able every few days. i'm taking as many precautions as i can to make sure i don't get it, while still giving him the love and exercise and stimulation he needs... basically i get up early every morning, feed him and give him playtime and snorgle time for an hour, then when i leave the room i throw my clothes in the washing machine immediately and take a hot shower. every evening i do it again when i come home from work. i'm not sure if it's overkill, but i've been doing my research on ringworm and every website is putting the fear of god in me -- "the spores will live on the walls up to 2 years if you don't repaint the room!" "burn all of the cat's bedding and toys!" well if nothing else, i'm incredibly clean. :)

work-wise, the end of this week will be a huge weight off my shoulders. three of my projects will have passed major milestones, especially my six sigma green belt (moved from yesterday to friday morning). i've been studying when i can, and feel much better about it that i did at the beginning of the week. just adding those few days to the timeline was a huge help.

okay, off to round up some breakfast. i have to be in the office super early today.

I remember reading those sites and freaking out and calling Lori to demand she assuage my fears. If it makes you feel better, they've *never* had to do more than wash bedding in hot water to get rid of the spores after they've cleared up an outbreak in their house. And it's never spread - they isolate the affected cat and nobody else catches it.

Lou's caught it once, Lori never. I haven't caught it yet, though for a while I was hypersensitive of every little itch. :P But so far, so good.

The Duck is ridiculously cute. Honestly, you need to hand out postcards with his picture on it, so that everyone has some pocket-sized cuteness on hand.

The ringworm sucks, but I really think that you'll be okay. There are households where the people (kids usually) have ringworm and I've never heard of having to repaint. Being careful (which you are), washing bedding or anything the Duck uses and giving him the full course of meds should do the trick.

I hope the Duckling is better soon and I'm glad that work might be a little bit more reasonable soon.

I think that I'm going to need a new hoop for burning man. Definitely something that glows in the dark. Maybe I can check out what you have left from vending last Sunday.

on the one hand, i'm not that worried if i catch it and get a little itchy patch on my arm or something... however, if you get it on your scalp then a chunk of your hair falls out, and i'm officiating a friend's wedding in a few weeks and would die if i had to stand up there with a big scaly bald patch. lol

i didn't make any glow hoops for WCL, but can make one easily for you. just think about what colors etc you'd like and let me know. :)

Kittens always have this look of sadness and urgency, and Ducky does not disappoint -- that userpic is totally lethal. Kitten + default kitten expression = ZOMG UNBEARABLE CUTENEFS!

I agree with rhiann31: postcards are necessary.

(Yep, I know his name is Duck, but I can't help but call him Ducky after my favorite Pretty in Pink character. I'll stop soon.)
