tv turn-off, day 5
Aug. 26th, 2004 09:02 pmbusy work day. up this morning at 5 so i could see my "tummy doctor" first thing when he opened. he'd reviewed all my test results, and the diagnosis is... (drumroll please)... irritable bowel syndrome and lactose intolerance! yaaaayyyyy!!!! <--- sarcasm. irritable bowel, or IBS, is something most people have heard of by now... there are a couple of "versions" of it, one of which is treated with the medication Zelnorm (the cute TV ad with all the women baring their midriffs with stuff written on them). that's not what i have exactly, but close enough. so i have some medication to slow down my digestive contractions, and i've been given a list of foods to stay away from... in a nutshell, i have to eat low fat, with very little dairy, very little processed carbs (like pasta)... which is a pretty healthy way to eat anyway. if anything, it'll give my WW membership a boost.
had a really productive day today. it certainly helped that the weather was gorgeous -- 75 degrees and blue skies. heaven! between the weather and the fact that i now had an action plan for my tummy, i was in a great mood. after work i came home and figured i'd take a quick nap, but i was so revved up i couldn't drift off. *grin* so i headed off to UPS to pick up... my new boots! whee! turns out the color "glicine" is another name for "really pale lilac". they're gorgeous, but unfortunately they're going back... they don't fit well in the calf, the calf height is just odd-looking, and they're just not... well... me. but it was worth a try.
spent a good chunk of time in Whole Foods afterwards. ::drool:: this may sound odd, but i just love going there! picked up a bunch of fresh fruits and veggies, and some organic frozen dinners that should fit in okay with my new eating plan. and tomorrow i'm actually going to cook for myself (i like to cook, but it's too much trouble for just me)... i'm going to try this recipe for "chicken rundown". yum.
so, that's it. didn't miss TV at all today (yay me). going to catch up on some reading, chat with peter, and then off to dreamland.
