maybe it's because i just downed a snack-sized bag of Smartfood popcorn... but i just had this sudden morbid curiosity about other people's eating habits. specifically, is there anything you used to eat (or, heck, still eat now) that you think of and go, "eew"? do tell.

when i was in college, a girlfriend of mine was a grad student and lived off-campus, and we'd have dinner nights at her place. we'd boil a box of pasta, and when it was cooked we'd stir in all of the following:

* a can of condensed cream of mushroom soup
* an entire brick of white cheddar cheese, shredded
* several pounds of fried sausage.

and we'd eat the whole thing. ::heave:: my arteries are clogging just from the memory.

true confession.

um.

I used to suck on beef boullion cubes. Like, stick them between my gum and cheek like a pack of chaw. And I had absolutely no idea how nasty that was.

last night, as i was drifting off to sleep, i actually thought about trying that. then i decided i'd rather stick a fork in my eye. ::snicker::

I don't go "eew", but a few favourites...

- bologna & cheese.... & peanut butter

- chocolate chip cookies... & beer

It's good, honest!

last night i thought of a few more:

* a guy i knew in college used to make his own sandwiches in the cafeteria: pineapple and mayo on white bread.

* when i worked at a mcdonald's in college, we had a "regular" who'd come in and ask for a large fries, hot out of the fryer, with hot fudge squirted on top.

* in 7th grade, i had cheerleading practice one day at a squadmate's house... we all decided we wanted a snack, and there was no junk food in the house... so we fried up egss and cornflakes together, with russian dressing mixed in. ::gag::

going to go hurl now.

Don't eat it much, and it's actually surprisingly good (good enough for the Cu\linary Institute of America cookbokk, at least): Pickle, mayo, peanut butter sandwich. Try it -it makes an ass-whuppin' hors' d'ouvre I hope I spelled that correctly.

The big ew for me is that I've been hitting Wendy's a lot lately.

And your sausage casserole sounds a lot like something I used to love: 2 cans tuna, 1-2 cans cream of mushroom, and cooked pasta shells. Put it in a dish and bake until it bubbles. Bonus points for crumbled Ritz crackers on top.

really? that sandwich is in their cookbook??? what kind of pickles (swet? dill?), and what kind of mayo and bread and peanut butter? are we talking gourmet stuff, or skippy and hellman's and wonder bread? i'm half intrigued, and half horrified. ::grin::

Dill pickles. I find the chips are easiest if you just put it on a cracker. I made it with Hellman's and Skippy.
