i just watched an interview with the woman who gave birth to octuplets. she's unemployed, living with her family, and going to back to school. so then HOW DID SHE HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY FOR IVF????

other than that, i got nothin'. it's going to be 55 this sunday, i'm jumping out of my skin waiting to drive around with the top down. yippee!

There's an ep of The Simpsons in which Apu and his wife have octuplets. The media circus showers them with attention and resources until another couple has nuntuplets.

Their tolerant but pitying reaction to a question about Apu and his family: "they don't know the joy of nine."

This makes me SO MAD! I think it's morally reprehensible to bring children in the world that you cannot afford to support.

Have they confirmed that it was IVF? I know that a lot of people throw around those terms when they really mean IUI, etc. I've been trying to avoid giving any attention to this, mostly because I think that paying attention to it only encourages more people to try crap like this in order to get their own TLC show.

There's also a theory that she did this out of the country, since it's unlikely that any RE in the US would stick that many eggs in a woman of her age. She probably went to Mexico to get it done, where it'd be a lot cheaper.

I thought it was in California, from her Kaiser physician. I also think the story went that she had all her other children via IVF and had some left over and just had those implanted all at once. Sounds kind of like she made a decision based religiously(maybe she felt she was killing the other embryos by not carrying them?) At any rate, it sounds like a very kaiser-y thing to do to try to implant 8 at once to save on costs(if she tried to do them separately--and they didn't take, it costs more)

Hmm...I seem to remember reading an article last week where Kaiser said they didn't see her at all until she was 3 months pregnant. I need to check my sources.
