PUURR-PLE RAIIIIIN...!!!!!!!

wow, am i EXHAUSTED. went to see prince in concert last night! i can now check him off my "top 5 concerts to see before i die" list, and wow, what a way to check it off! i went to the show with T, a girlfriend of mine from work who is one of the funniest people i know. we met up early and went to one of the local "see and be seen" bars in the area, Anthem... crammed ourselves in there with about 200 other prince fans and drank a couple of raspberry martinis to set the mood. (a number of people were drinking raspberry martinis because, well, it's prince... even MORE people were dressed in purple. hee hee.)

the show itself was a blast, definitely one of the best concerts i've ever seen. we were all the way up at the top of the fleet center (there were only 2 rows of seats behind us), but it didn't matter because we could see everything. prince is such an amazing showman... besides the fact that his music is phenomenal, he was just the perfect entertainer. every note he played and sang was live, not once did he use a click track... and somehow he managed to connect, really connect, with the 10,000 or so of us who came to see him. he did all of his big songs, at least in part, and many with great new arrangments (he did a 20-minute acoustic set that was out of this world). and god, his dancing... and that screaming guitar... wow. words just don't do it justice. seriously, if prince is coming to your town, get a ticket for whatever seats you can, and go have the time of your life.

one thing about going to see live music... every time i do, i come home desperate to be in a band. *grin* i tried putting a band together a few years ago, and became very frustrated, because here in boston everyone wants to be a session player and gig with a bunch of different bands, no-one wants to stay with one group. and i didn't have enough know-how to be in charge and make it happen, so i bagged it. but maybe, if i move to philly next year, i could make some contacts... find a band looking for a singer, and go have some fun. hmmmmm.

god, i'm exhausted. peter's here in 18 hours, and somehow i have to pull myself together enough to work a full day and clean the apartment. eek.

Good to see another Boston Blogging Prince Fan

I was there too and couldn't agree with you more about the show! Great time. I was worried that there was no other boston bloggers out there who were at the show. I posted my recap at http://www.realitybitchslap.com

DOOD!!! that would be so cool!

i sing... done a bit of everything (swing, rock, even country)... my strengths seem to be classic rock and some modern rock a'la no doubt and alannis morrisette. no instruments, alas.

OMG, wouldn't that be a hoot. ::chortle:: in the meantime, we still have to plan our philly jaunt!!!
