Jan. 20th, 2009 06:56 pmwatching the election at work was an exercise in craziness. i went to cnn.com at 11:30, only to find the video stream completely frozen... had the same problem on the msnbc site... managed to get a signal for a bit on our local nbc affiliate's website, which then froze and kept buffering, which left me with 10 minutes of still photos with the occasional sound snippet. at 10 minutes before noon, i grabbed my coat and rushed out of the building to drive over to our training center -- jack had told me that they were going to play CNN on a big screen in the cafeteria there. i listened in the car on the drive over, screeched into the parking lot during the music portion, and ran in my pumps through the building in time to catch the end of obama's swearing-in. whew. it was wonderful to watch -- a cafeteria full of people, silent, watching our new president give his first speech in office. and to be able to share it with jack, standing alongside him in the back of the room as we listened to obama's first speech as our president, was even cooler.
i loved that speech... i can't wait to read the transcript. so much to absorb.
