just as jack and i settled in to watch a DVD tonight, angus decided to open my front hall closet and poke around. he does this all the time -- slides open the closet door and roots around in the plastic bags (i keep a bag full of store plastic bags in there) until i yell at him to quit the racket. tonight, though, he started playing around with the bags, and then all hell broke loose. seems that he poked his head through one of the bags' handles and got stuck... and he rocketed out of the closet, completely freaked out that he was being "chased" by a big rustling plastic bag that had him by the waist.

jack and i tried to catch him but couldn't, he just careened at full speed all around the house... banging into walls, knocking over lamps, wild-eyed and desperate. finally jack managed to get a grip on the bag as angus bolted up the stairs... and the bag finally ripped free as the poor kitty tore himself away. almost immediately jack and i were hit with the stench of cat urine -- and it was EVERYWHERE. poor little guy was so terrified, he'd peed as he ran. and it wasn't regular cat pee, this was terrified male cat pee so it was STRONG. so i grabbed my swiffer wet mop, and swiffered the entire downstairs.

it's almost 2 hours later, and he's still pretty keyed up... i've been keeping an eye on him, because with his heart murmur that kind of excitement isn't good. i think he's just on edge at this point, and nursing a bloody claw that he must have split when he dug into the hardwood floors to get traction as he ran. poor baby. but i'll be sleeping with one eye open tonight, to make sure he's really ok.

Tigger is so obsessed with plastic bags, he will go into the recycle bag to pull one out! And Danny keeps one in his room for Tigger to lie on when the mood strikes him.

I hope Angus settles soon!

OMG that's so scary , thankfully he's okay!!

The odd thing is yesterday my boss was telling me her daughters friend's dog was left in a car for a few minutes when the owner returned he had suffocated himself in a plastic bag and died.

Aw, man, Probat did that one time. Luckily, though, we didn't get the full male cat pee experience out of it. :P Too bad it's not warm enough to open the windows and get some good fresh air in!

and this is how they learn not to root around in the closet.

Poor baby all three of you!

Been there.

And I would have responded much earlier if I hadn't tried to find that post - I got caught up in a trip down amnesia lane and have been reading my own journal for an hour. :P

Now I desperately need to do something to get out of my own head.

Anyway, I'm glad the poor little guy is ok. Give him a snorgle for me when he's feeling better.

NooooOooOoooo, poor kitteh! And poor kitteh mom and dad!

I hope Mr. Angus is feeling much better very soon. A quiet day sitting in a warm Thanksgiving sunny spot will help.

I agree: snorgling is also recommended.
