tonight my salsa teacher made himself part of the rotation so that he could dance with each woman in the class. after a few rounds of rotating to him, he spoke to me as we danced the combination he'd taught: "how long have you been taking level 2A?" "about a month" i replied. his response: "you know, you could move on to the 2B class if you wanted... think about it, and if you decide you don't feel challenged in here then start taking 2B."

FREAKING A. that's 5 months of 2A classes i could skip (you have to take 6 months of 2A before moving on to 2B). sweet! BUT -- dancing a pattern taught in class is different from following something on the social dance floor... i want to make sure that skipping those classes won't screw me if i go out dancing. maybe i can do a private lesson and learn the rest of the 2A stuff, and then move on. we shall see.

Just take both.

I'm currently taking Mike Andino's "basic 3" and "intermediate 1" classes simultaneously. Do I have any trouble following the intermediate class? Nope. But I'm fixing/learning lots of important technique shit in the basic class, where I can also meet babes be helpful to others.

Mike suggested this (not the babe-meeting part), and I'm glad he did. He was a little apprehensive about suggesting it, I think, but I can be quite ego-free when I smell a payoff down the road (just ask my coauthor).

(Then there's Darlin's "Intermediate" class on Tuesdays. I've taken it, I've even followed it, but I don't know that I've ever retained anything from it. The man FLIES along)
