last night i finally bought a book i've been eyeing for the better part of a year: "generation T: 108 ways to transform a t-shirt". so. much. fun. i'm kicking myself for not getting it sooner... i finally did it because i wanted to have some fun stuff to wear at rock camp (that "i'm huge in japan" t-shirt is awesome, but it's a boxy men's cut and i want to glam it up a bit). if you have any interest in fashion, and especially if you have t-shirts lying around that you don't think you're going to wear anymore, spend the $14.95 in borders and get it. i'm so inspired, i can't wait to hit the salvation army and get a bunch of old tees to play with! and the best part: many of the remakes - skirts, shirts, etc - are no-sew, held together with safety pins or string or those little 80's round "button" pins ([livejournal.com profile] southstman, i'm so grabbing a few at the next sex dwarf to make a sex dwarf shirt!). last night in 10 minutes i completely redid a tee using nothing but scissors -- instead of being big and boxy, now it's more fitted and has a tight row of bows down the back like a horse's mane. whee!

it was fun to be at the mall last night... besides the book, i had to get a bra with clear straps for my dance routine costume, so i spent a couple of hours in king of prussia. it's amazing -- even though i love being "partnered up", i still love taking a few hours alone and wandering around the mall. window-shopping, maybe trying on some girly sundresses, reading a magazine over lunch or dinner at one of the mall restaurants... i just love love love it. i'd love it more if i had some real money to spend, but oh well. :)

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!

That's funny... I've discovered I enjoy shopping in moderation, but only if I'm on my own (or with Eleanor, and that's pushing it).

This post couldn't have come at a more perfect time! I've been going through my stuff and saying, "I can re-work this" and setting it aside. Then I came across a t-shirt re-work tutorial I pulled out of In Style magazine I don't know how many years ago and thought, "Score!" But this is even better! AND I have gift cards for Borders! I know where I'm going this weekend...
