puerto rico - final chapter
Apr. 20th, 2008 02:41 pmour last full day at the resort, jack decided to splurge... he rented us a cabana by the pool. w00t! for a small fortune, we got an adorable tiki hut with all sorts of amenities: a fridge stocked with bottled water and juices, a flat-screen TV, ceiling fan to stay cool, a dock for our iPod, a giant pitcher of red sangria and gorgeous fruit platter. not to mention waitress service and 4 plush lounge chairs next to the cabana (that we had to shoo people away from all day, when they didn't realize the cabana area was reserved seating only).
the one on the left was our little love shack for the day

we had a fantastic day in the cabana... jack docked his iPod and fired up his several-hours-long playlist of 1960s tiki lounge music, which just set the relaxed tone for the day... and we spent the next 10 hours alternating between swimming right outside our door, snoozing on our terrycloth-covered lounge chairs, and drinking sangria in the shade when the sun was too strong. we had a great view of the pool in front of the pool bar, so jack got lots of pictures of girls' hineys, and we observed a newlywed couple from boston get drunker and drunker as they downed mudslides in the pool. we had a blast.
dinner that night was back at the hotel's caribbean place... it was so good, we wanted to try other things on the menu! i'm both sad and glad that that place isn't actually in philly... sad because it was one fo the best restaurants i've eaten at, and glad because i'd weigh 500 pounds if i had easy access to it. :) one thing we will take away from it, though, is my new favorite drink: the passionfruit colada. *drool* after dinner, we went up to the room to catch the flyers score before the nightclub opened at 11pm... by 9:30, i was snoring. no nightclub for us. *sigh*.
so, that was our vacation. our last morning was just spent having a leisurely breakfast by the pool and vegging in our room... and as usual, althiough i was terribly sad to go, i was also happy that night to snuggle up with jack's kitties and eat chinese food on his couch in front of the TV. :)
