so, i'm spending a long weekend in brooklyn this summer to attend rock camp. i started looking for hotels near the camp's location, and it looks like there just aren't many hotels in brooklyn in general. barely knowing new york, i have no concept of how walkable or cab-able the area is... if i'm in rehearsal until 10pm and have to walk 6 blocks to my hotel, is it unsafe? what about cabs -- are there a million cabs in brooklyn, just like manhattan, so i can stay someplace farther from the camp (but a nicer hotel) and just hail a cab when i'm done each day?

sorry to sound so naive... i just have very little experience with new york, and i'm a bit intimidated by its massiveness. :)

(I say this because she is specifically a Brooklynite)

What about a B&B in Brooklyn? They exist!
