spring is very birthday-y for me, more than other times of the year. there are so many friend and family birthdays around this time, and now with jack in the mix it's even more so. yesterday we had 2 birthday thingies to go to, one adult and one child... the kid one (jack's neice) was too cute for words. many of the little cousins in his family are all around 3 years old, so the house was electric with kidlet energy. the family was so cute, they'd made the living room into a fairyland for the kids... they hung green mesh all around the living room so that it made a perimeter curtain that you could sort of see through, and they glued silk flowers all over it... the kids had to guess what the magic word was that would let them into the fairyland, and once they guessed it and the curtain flap was opened, they were all given fairy wings to wear and little wands and multi-colored little yarn pompoms to throw around and make up spells. the best part was that the boys were as into it as the girls -- they were running around, fairy wings flapping, having a blast. how nice to see them enjoy themselves before they get old enough to think something is "too girly".

let's see, what else is going on? oh, i joined facebook. i was really reluctant because i figured it was like myspace (i HATED being on myspace), but it seems a lot more palatable. i've already found several classmates on there, and linked back up with some swing dance folks i'd lost touch with. i just need to make sure it doesn't suck away my entire sunday... i have too much laundry and cleaning to do!
