in a few weeks, i'm spending one night in your fair city. any suggestions on where to have a good dinner? i'll probably stay somewhere around times square/rockefeller center, so someplace walkable or quick cab-able would be best... type of food is completely open, i'm more looking for atmosphere and food quality...

Paul and I took my parents to Roberto Passon for their anniversary. Excellent food and service, even though their web site is annoying, and the place has been completely renovated since those pictures.

Or, if you're going with someone, try getting a reservation at Carmine's. Generally packed, but the food is awesome. And it's smack-dab in Times Square.

Ruby Foo's is fantastic. They have 2 locations, the atmosphere is awesome too.

There's always Ellen's Stardust Diner, at 1650 Broadway (http://www.ellensstardustdiner.com/).

Not too far off is The Palm steakhouse, which has terrific food... and easy ways to kinda sorta stick to a diet (lots of veggie sides available, f'rinstance).
