...for the technologically challenged?

nothing even remotely computer-related has been working for me today. jeez. first i purchased a .mac account, so that i could store pix and link to them from LJ. but for some reason, the pix i have on my computer aren't loading onto the account. grrr. then, i had lunch with a customer at his office... we got to talking about these awesome boston condos, channel center... and he wanted to go online and look at them... the poor man had to download and install quicktime (which took about 10 minutes) to get the virtual tour running, and then the darn thing froze up on him and wouldn't work. oops.

then, this afternoon, i purchased a webcam (because a friend has one, and now i wanna be cool like him)... and it won't install properly. so that's unusable too. i swear to god, i'm like the Typhoid Mary of technology.

in good news, i'm starting to be able to see my weight loss, which RAWKS! the ex noticed it yesterday, and commented that my pants were looking baggy. i didn't weigh myself last week, so i'm not sure how much i'm down now... i'm guessing it's around 10 lbs. but this morning, i put on a suit that was skin-tight 2 weeks ago, and it fit really well... then i tried on some fall clothes in the mall this afternoon, and looking in the dressing room mirror, i could actually see that my hips, butt, and arms are a bit smaller! wahoo! must be all the dancing, it's finally working. now if only i could get my computer-y stuff to work...

I use Photobucket.com to store and link pictures, and it's totally free and works most of the time (but hey, at least it's free).

Your webcam may not be compatible with your computer. Is yours a Mac?

And good going with the weight loss! I guess it helps that your method of exercise is a really enjoyable one to boot.

yup, i have a mac. but according to the cam company, it's compatible with OSX. we'll see. in the meantime, i have to get apple to help me out with the .mac thing... i just paid $100 for it, i want my money's worth. *grin*

Dont spend cash to store images. Get a yahoo account or something for free. Mac is evil and the tool of the liberal left wing conspiracy. Many peripherals that say they work with a mac just dont. Cant help you on that one.

Good going on the weight loss. Perhaps all that "exercise" you are doing to soothe your increased libido is working on two fronts. ;-)

How are you trying to store your images? From iPhoto? I have had good experiences with my .Mac account, and it's certainly a lot more reliable (in my experience) and flexible than using Yahoo Photos, etc. Mostly in that all the "free" services don't allow remote linking.

Your cam is firewire, right? USB webcams tend to not work on the Mac, even though they will "install"...they won't work with 99% of the applications, like iChat.

argh. i got a USB camera, because according to the people at the apple store, the only program that would run iSight is aol (meaning everyone else in the world would have to download aol to see my cam. they said the better thing would be to get a USB one.

the good news is, the cam is working now... but yahoo! doesn't recognize it. hopefully it'll all be resolved soon. grrr.
