things and stuff
Aug. 27th, 2007 09:47 pmthat tiffany ring i posted about the other day sold for $102. nice! i got back almost all the money i paid for it years ago. now the questions is, when will i get the payment? the auction ended 2 days ago and i have yet to hear from the buyer. i will go ballistic if they don't pay for it.
speaking of tiffany's... i went to the one near me tonight to get the ring all polished up... it had a teeny bit of tarnish on it, and i wanted it to look nice for the buyer. let me tell you, that was the best $5 i've spent in a while. the ring looks BRAND NEW. note to self: buy more silver jewelry from tiffany! the only problem was avoiding all the sparkly diamond-y stuff on the way out... those darn marketing people know just how to light those things so they just about EXPLODE out of the case! i was like, "i will not look at the diamonds... i will not... look... um... nnngk... SHINYYYYYY!!!!!!!" *ogle, ogle*
still working on my tailspin website. so much work just to get the darn thing looking decent! tonight i set up all my "buy now" buttons, and added another page to the site... all i need to do now is get some decent photos of the hoops, and i'm set. (do you know how TOUGH it is to take a decent photo of something made of glitter? my poor camera doesn't know what the heck to focus on!)

Date: 2007-08-28 03:43 am (UTC)I had all kinds of trouble photographing tote bags for my shop. It is hard to get natural light when the only good place to hang them is not near a window. And I'm not about to pay for an expensive lighting set up! I learned a few trick in Photoshop and now I'm satisfied with the photos. If you are interested, I can direct you to the tutorial I used online.
Good luck with that. I hope something works out. I'm sure you'll find your groove and it will become much easier.
Have you gotten business cards? I got some through Vistaprint. They are ok, but I was just made aware of a new site that does nicer cards with glossy card stock and UV coating on colored sides. Not sure why that is necessary for business cards but hey it's a free upgrade. You can also get both sides printed, for more money of course. Oh, and rounded edges (cool)! Over all their prices seem very reasonable. The site is www.gotprint.com
Just wanted to pass that bit of info along to my home internet business sistah! Ha ha!

i'm making new cards this weekend... jack has a software program that helps design them, and we made an inital batch (before i got my logo) that looks really darn cool. it's amazing how far home-printed cards have come... they look like they were done professionally!
good luck with your business, too! your bags are adorable!

I'm so jealous! I looked for info on printing my own business cards and everyone said to order them and not bother printing them! I guess I shouldn't always listen to "everyone".
Isn't it great having a special someone to help you out with things in starting a little business? Jason has been very supportive and taken an interest in helping me with ideas, photography and general cheerleading. :-)
