so, i'm sure all of you have been seeing the ads over the past several years for 2 new medications for "restless legs syndrome". i've had RLS since i was a kid, and never knew what it was... when i was finally able to put a name to it a few years ago, i was thrilled to know i wasn't the only one who had "wonky legs". so, when these medications came out, i was happily curious... until i discovered that they were originally formulated for parkinson's disease and seizure disorders, and can cause what seems to amount to narcolepsy... that kind of freaked me out.

until i learned recently about some of the other side effects of these medications:

There have been reports of patients taking certain medications to treat Parkinson's disease or RLS, including MIRAPEX, that have reported problems with gambling, compulsive eating, and increased sex drive. It is not possible to reliably estimate how often these behaviors occur to determine which factors may contribute to them. If you or your family members notice that you are developing unusual behaviors, talk to your doctor.

hmmmmmm... rushing off to vegas, hitting the buffet, and getting lots of nookie? SWEET! i would think that's a reason TO take it!

*calling my doctor*

Quois?
It must turn off the part of your brain that says, "naaah."

I've had RLS since I was a kid too. My mom and I never knew what it was and she always called it "happy feet." I find that my Synthroid keeps it under control.

Not that I believe in any of these new fangled diagnoses but I too get the occasional rls. I just stand up walk around and do some squats to get the blood flowing and then its gone. But given this information I might get me some pills.

RLS makes me NUTS on some nights, and I've found they always seem to kick into high gear on red-eye coast-to-coast flights when I'm in a middle seat. LOVE THAT.

I think I might have to get me some happycrack pillz! Woooot!

Weird, I've just met a person who happens to have RLS and had no idea what it was until she explained it to me. Now it turns out everybody I know has RLS. How odd.

I'm relieved that your punchline was the same as my first evil thought.
