weekend recap
Jul. 8th, 2007 10:56 pmaaaah. nice relaxing weekend... totally needed that.
friday night my bro and i took my parents out for their birthdays (back to back... july is always a financially poor month for me!)... had an amazing dinner in a lovely restaurant, while we all told stories of people we knew having explosive bowel incidents at inopportune times. (god, i love my family.)
saturday was "world hooping day", and i made sure to celebrate it... i packed up my hoops and headed to jack's for the evening, where i found him in his living room scouring iTunes for hoop-appropriate music to download for us. (have i mentioned he is teh awesome?) while i still haven't learned more moves, i'm making some technical progress on what i do know -- i got to the point where i was able to waist hoop while walking across jack's backyard and back, without letting the hoop fall at all. w00t! we tried tandem hooping with both of us inside my bigger hoop, which was a disaster... although that could also be because by that point, we had each downed a mammoth glass of red wine and were exhausted from the heat and hoopin' on and off all afternoon. hee.
today was a HUGE area car show.. of all things, we were parked right next to the guy with the hearse we met last month! (such a nice kid; if anyone's looking for a 21-year-old punk boyfriend with a hearse who is an absolute sweetie, let me know.) lots of beautiful cars to look at, a scorchingly hot day (thank god jack brings a tent to these things or i would have burst into flames), and a deep-fried oreo vendor that i managed to avoid *patting myself on the back*. oh, and there were a ton of vendors there selling antiques, including one who had a gorgeous old accordion camera for $25... i was dying to buy it, except all of his other for-sale items were incrediby offensive -- nazi emblems everywhere, and a board game called something like "find the darkies in the marsh" (no, i'm not kidding). didn't feel the need to support him.
one bummer of the weekend: i found out that i'm not going to get to see the red elvises at ALL this summer. wah! they usually play at musikfest, but not this year... they had a gig in allentown a few weeks ago, and that's it until next year. boo, hiss.
