if you are in a good mood and enjoying your day, do not watch "meerkat manor".

i hadn't seen an episode in a while, and jack and i are starting to plan our fall trip to see "our meerkat", so when i saw a few episodes were on this afternoon, i sat down to catch up. i'm sorry i did. in the second episode i watched, a rival gang chased away a meerkat that was babysitting two teeny little pups... one of the rival gang went into the burrow and dragged one of the pups out, where the rest of the gang proceeded to tear her apart. you could hear her teeny little cries as she was killed, it was horrible. my heart literally stopped for a second. then i started to bawl.

seriously, nature sucks. i hate it. i know it's not much different from the life-or-death battle i had with a huge black wolf spider in my house the other night, where i felt i was totally justified to drown him in bleach... but still. ugh. i'm still not right, several hours later... and angus has been snuggled into oblivion in my feeble attempts to self-medicate with animal luvs.

one thing that did cheer me up: a brief but awesome visit with swingdoc. we chatted, we drank caramel tea, we watched her adorable son colin's instant attraction to my kiddie-sized hula hoop (insert maniacal laugh here)...

That's exactly the sort of thing that would ruin my day. In fact, it's the sort of thing that would hang over me for quite a while.

Even if it IS all "circle of life" and all, it's harsh.

yup. i'm still upset about it, a day later. it was horrible. *sigh*.
