when's my next vacation?
May. 2nd, 2007 06:34 amJ and i are already thinking about our next trip... we had so much fun getting away on the cruise, now all we want to talk about is when we can go away again. last night when we were grilling at his place, he told me excitedly that he'd found an alaska cruise (he's really into this alaska cruise idea) in july for $2000. him: "start saving now! that's only $1000 each!" me: "honey, that's the cost per person, not per cabin." him: "dammit!"
looks like the next big-ish trip will be our long weekend in CA in the fall. we're going out to visit "our" meerkat (from when he adopted one for me for valentine's day), and padding a few days on to do other things while we're out there. the best part is that we may be able to time it so we can see a Shag exhibit while we're there, AND i might sign up for some private hooping lessons too! w00t!
i'm in such vacation mode still, i decided yesterday to turn an upcoming business trip into a mini-vacation. i always say that i should stay an extra day or so when i travel for work, but by the end of the trip i just want to go home... this time, since i'm going to miami, i decided to fly in the weekend before to stay in south beach. i found a cute little cheapie art deco hotel with a pool and beach access... so i'm thinking a couple of days of lounging and reading, mixed in with some ocean drive window-shopping and maybe a night at a salsa club, will be just what the doctor ordered. yay!

Date: 2007-05-03 03:26 am (UTC)Stay at the Catalina Hotel in South Beach! It rocks so hard, and it's right there on the main drag. It's like Pod, but a hotel.
Make sure you get decked out in some swanky sexy garb and get a drink or 7 at The Delano. Make sure you walk all the way the building through to the back yard bar. It's just beautiful.
If you're not familiar with the hotels in South Beach, lemme know the name of the place you're staying. My company is based in South Beach (the IT consulting hotbed, dontcha know...wtf), and there are (sadly) lots of crappy run-down places that tout themselves as art deco. (No, that just means the stains are from the late 1920s.)
