i was going to do a whole "day in the life" photo post yesterday because i had the day off, but i didn't do a heck of a lot. basically spent half the day shoveling myself out of the snowstorm we got here... thick, heavy, slushy snow that kept threatening to ice over. my back and hands are screaming this morning. bleh.
the boy liked the valentine's present i got him: 2 albums to start his record collection, now that his big cabinet stereo is up and running in his living room. i went to that cool record store in chestnut hill and bought him albums from 2 opposite ends of his musical taste: one of frank sinatra singing with tommy dorsey, and one of the early cramps albums. they're super-cool.
and he got me what has to be the best valentine's gift EVER: he adopted a meerkat for me!!! aaaaaiiiieeee!!!! yes, i bawled. they're sending me an e-mail in the next few days with the name of the meerkat his donation went towards, so i know who my little dude (or dudette) is. and actually, i guess i'll be getting two e-mails, one of them forwarded from the boy... because he accidentally adopted one on his own behalf as well. *chuckle* he went through the whole online donation/adoption process, and couldn't find any check box or anything to mark that it was a gift... turns out it was back on the first page, but he only realized that after he'd adopted one in his own name. so he did it AGAIN, so that one would be in my name and it'd be official. awwwwwwwww....
now, i wonder: will this be like the south park episode where the boys adopt an ethiopian kid, and the foundation accidentally ships the kid to them and he ends up on their doorstep? oh, that would be so cool... *coming up with plans to build a meerkat burrow in the backyard*
other than that, the night was very low-key. had a great chinese meal at a local restaurant, and i was falling asleep on the couch by 10:30. perfect. :)
