nothing new and exciting to report. a new class started this week at work, i have a couple of projects that are going well, i'm trying to eat healthier, i've spent my evenings watching tv and catching up on chores, and i'm buying my first new mattress in 13 years today after work. woo. about the most exciting thing i've had going on is this awful headache that's been coming and going for 4 days.... it nailed me at work yesterday, to the point where i was in tears at my desk. and later, in class, i had to grab onto the edge of a table to steady myself from the pain. bleh. the boy thinks it might stem from these 2 massive knots i have in my shoulder muscles... wherever it comes from, it needs to chill out. srsly. *crossing fingers that it doesn't come back today*

things to look forward to over the next few weeks: sex dwarf this friday. a possible weekend road trip to see "stomp the yard" with the boston peeps. a couple of short work trips (gotta keep those frequent flier miles up!).

and... oooooo! alo brasil is playing world cafe live on saturday 2/10! for anyone not on [livejournal.com profile] boutell's mailing list, there are already a bunch of us going to the 10pm show... get tickets and come along! info is here: alo brasil at world cafe

you will see lots of shaking booties, both on stage and in the audience. they are a total party.

I don't mean to be an alarmist, but I think that a headache that returns for four days warrants a doctor visit.

I've definitely had headaches caused by back tension. I agree that it might be worth a doctor's visit, but if you don't do that, do not pass go, get yourself a massage or go to a chiropractor. Seriously. It's not an indulgence, it's a necessity to get your body back to normal before you cause more lasting harm.

They always said in elementary school that if you made faces for too long, they would stick. That may be silly, but the longer muscles are bound up, the harder it is to get them to let go.

Hooray for new mattresses!

i get tension headaches from knots in my back too. massage massage massage. but i agree with your other commenters, too--it might be a good idea to get checked out by a doc. the ones you're describing sound pretty severe.

if your knots are partially due to upper back posture, i also have some exercises i learned a long time ago from a PT, that help to strenghten and balance the muscles around your shoulders. they're pretty easy to do, and they really work--when i do them regularly (therein lies the trick), they deeply relieve the big knot i get right next to my left shoulderblade (this knot causes pain in that band of muscle that runs vertically along my spine and up into the back of my head). if you're interested, i'll see if i can find them online (i.e. with diagrams, which are very helpful)...or else i'll try to describe them for you.

I hope you will be able to dance away the pain... I'll be at Sex Dwarf with my friend Deb in tow, w00t!

And OH HAI TIMING! I'm flying up to Boston (well, the burbs of it, really) next week to meet peeps of my own. _Stomp the Yard_ looks like a surprisingly good film, I may have to convince them to take a movie break.
