so, yeah. it was 70 degrees yesterday. perfect day to drive around with the top down on the car... except that i spent the morning watching "an inconvenient truth", so it was hard to enjoy a warm january day after that. if you haven't seen that film, rent it. NOW. even if you hate al gore, just ignore who he is politically and concentrate on the film itself. it's that important. it's wonderful and powerful and really interesting. and there were a few places where my heart literally jumped from shock. just wow.

last night was fun, i got to see some of my separate friends meet and interact for the first time, which is always interesting. it was me, the boy, [livejournal.com profile] swingdoc and partytom, one of her friends from work with her man, and [livejournal.com profile] jeremym. lots of laughter, guava mojitos, and the richest post-dinner gelato ever from capogiro. but alas, no karaoke at moriarty's because i SUCK and didn't call to see if it was back on after the holidays. the boy even tried to salvage the evening by grabbing a philadelphia weekly and checking the listings... he found another karaoke night right down the street, except when we got there we discovered 1) a rainbow flag out front, 2) many tight-t-shirted men going inside, and 3) a bouncer who informed us that it was a private club. ah. so, no gay karaoke night for us. darn.

we all called it a night instead, and the boy and i headed back to his place, where he had an awesome surprise waiting. the old stereo he'd had in his basement for forever was now up in his living room (whee!), and the first album he bought to play on it?: "revivial" by the reverend horton heat. of all the vinyl he could have bought, he ebayed some of MY favorite music. he's so awesome.

oh, and here's photos of the stereo:

it's soooo beautiful, and the SMELL! god, i forgot how cool an old cabinet stereo smelled until he showed me this. and the SOUND! we cranked that album up, and i danced around like a fool. whee!
