please, FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, do not wear cargo shorts and a t-shirt out on a blind date with me. i'm not sure if someone secretly put a sentence in my online profiles that says "i dig guys in cargo shorts and t-shirts", but today makes the 3rd or 4th blind date in a row where the guy has worn that. i do not want to take the time and effort to look cute for you, if you're not going to do the same. if you wear said ensemble, i am going to think 1) you are a slob, 2) you don't care about impressing me in the least and 3) you have no clothing in your closet that i would want you to be dressed in if we were going any place other than taco bell.

Hmmm... methinks the date did not go well?

I met up with someone today, and it was agreed that we would be totally casual [ie. jeans/t-shirt type casual]. If she hadn't suggested it, I would have certainly "upgraded" a bit before going.

ruby tuesday's in the mall. not the fanciest restaurant in the world, but jeans or khakis would have certainly been fine.

I went on one date with a guy (DAH-veed, who was not French -- just a pretentious twit) who showed up wearing shorts, white knee socks, hiking boots, and a t-shirt.

Alas, that was not the worst thing about him.

But still... the cargo shorts are wrong.

You can ask my wife, this drives me crazy. During prom season, if you go out to dinner, you will occasionally find kids going to prom coming in as well. One of the things that drives me nuts is when a young lady has gone so far as to buy a dress, make sure it matches here shoes, getting her hair and makeup done, and she shows up with a guy who struggled to shave and is wearing carpenter jeans, sneakers and a T-shirt.

As a parent of two girls, I have vowed that if this ever happened to either of my daughters, I would fight to urge to punch the young man in the face (which is my right as a parent) and make sure that my daughter takes me to the prom instead.

I get absolutely livid just thinking about it.

how about i start taking you out on my dates. you can hide behind a potted plant in the restaurant, and if the guy shows up looking like a frat boy the morning after a bender, you can ambush him and beat the living daylights out of him.
