wow, was it good to have her back! it took 3 of my best friends driving 6 hours each way to see me, but it was just what the doctor ordered. they just left a few hours ago, tearing off with "tainted love" blaring out the windows... and i am so bummed that they're not here now.

so, here it is:

slept in on friday morning, since the peeps didn't get in until after 1am the night before. we headed to the house for an 11am appointment, so i could measure for curtains and stuff (and make sure the fridge i bought will actually fit in the kitchen!) my mom's painter met me there too, to measure the rooms i'll need painted so he can give me an estimate. the peeps loved the house... while i measured everything, they sat in the living room with all of the paint swatches i'd brought, and picked out the colors for each room, and made suggestions on where all the furniture and art should go. :) and they suggested what i'd already thought of -- that the shed in back, since i'm not buying a lawnmower, can be turned into a tiki bar in the summer! whee! party house!!!!!!

one downer during the house trip -- it seems that there's a broken pipe or something in the ceiling over the storage room (used to be the garage)... and there was a big puddle of water on the floor, and the ceiling over it was all buckled and split. so now we have to get them to rush a plumber over to fix the pipe, and then god knows how long it's going to take to fix that whole ceiling. grrrrr. i will say though, thank god it didn't happen after i'd moved in...

the gang got a real kick out of being in the convertible with the top down. everywhere we went, even if it was just down the street, they were like, "top DOWN!!!!" whenever we drove past construction workers or random groups of people, they'd all go "woooooooo!" at them. or scream at the tops of their lungs, "BEST! WEEKEND! EVER!!!!" hee! we got quite a lot of use out of vinnie this weekend!

cruising to the house in vinnie!

after the housey stuff, we headed down the street to my new local cheesesteak place, "pudge's". J had very philly-specific things he wanted to do/see during the weekend, and one of them was eating a cheesesteak. (geno's and pat's were out of the question, because they were too far... we needed some place to veg out and feel gross after eating them.) pudge's turned out to be pretty good, and the waitstaff were all super-nice.

oh, the carnage...

after the cheesesteaks, we all needed either a nap or a stomach pump... opting for the nap route, we headed back to my place and went down to the pool. we all completely collapsed for a couple of hours in our deck chairs, only opening our eyes to turn over or peek at the magda look-alike ("something about mary" reference) chain-smoking in her tiger-striped bathing suit across from us.

this isn't magda... this is J, snoozin'.

somehow we all came out of our cheesesteak and sun comas, and got ourselves showered and dressed to head into the city for "sex dwarf", the monthly 80's new wave dance party at fluid nightclub.

L1 (earlier that day): wait, when are we going to sex dwarf?
me: tonight.
L2: what are we doing tomorrow night? anything?
J: tomorrow night's "midget fellatio".

oh, and quick side story... J thought it would be funny to have t-shirts made for all of us for the night... our nickname for him is "paco" (long story), so he wanted to get us shirts that said "i danced with paco at sex dwarf"... and then his shirt would say "i am paco". the girl shirts got cancelled by the printing company, but J's shirt was sent... so he still wore his to the club.

he was quite the hit, even got his photo taken for the club website. too funny!

so, back to sex dwarf... we headed in a bit early and picked up [livejournal.com profile] dhpdesign for dinner, grabbed some amazing sushi on south street, hit a few shops, and then got to fluid right at 10 when the doors opened. snagged a primo booth by the bar, and then the night just took off. sex dwarf is AMAZING, in every way -- great people, fantastic music, bartenders with a heavy pour, and the pop rocks and blowpops strewn on every surface didn't hurt either. the unisex bathroom was a little intimidating at first, but i got used to it. and i danced my butt off... every time i'd go to sit, another ass-kicker of a song would come on, and we'd all squeal and run back out onto the floor. like i said in my previous post, it was 4 hours of getting swirled up into the music and the lights and everyone's bodies moving, and it was one of the best nights i've had in a very long time. total blast.

i was sooooore when i woke up the next day though! we were all hurting when we got up at noon, and desperately hungry... so we did some serious damage to piles of eggs and scrapple and pancakes at the deli down the street. then off to the mall, so they could take in the gigantic retail glory that is the court and plaza at king of prussia. we were actually very restrained, each of us only bought one or 2 things (i snagged an awesome suit for work for next to nothing) and got through the big side of the mall in about 4 hours. early on, when the peeps were getting the layout of the place, we passed a store and saw someone in a hello kitty costume walk by... "oh, it's hello kitty..." we murmured, and walked on... then we stopped in our tracks, realizing the celebrity we'd just passed.... turned around, screamed "HELLO KITTY!!!!!!" and practically tackled her for a picture:

note to self: don't ever again think that you can get away without makeup, even if you're just going to the mall. eek.

the rest of the evening was spent drinking frozen foo-foo drinks and having dinner out on the deck at "bahama breeze", and then staying up until 2am playing the board game of "i love the 80's". i'm telling you right now, this game is a SCREAM. best housewarming present J could have given me. it got a little competitive at times...

but it was an absolute blast. we even played it again while we ate breakfast this morning, 'cause we couldn't get enough of it. you have to love a game where you need to do charades of "daisy duke" to win another roll of the dice... yes, my friends now know more about my lower extremities than they ever wanted to.

so, now they're headed back to boston. *weep*. this really was the best weekend i've had in a very long time. now somehow i actually have to get ready for work tomorrow... how can i think about work????
