catholic gifts?
May. 11th, 2006 04:15 pmsorry for all the posts recently!!! i need input from my catholic/christian peeps who either have or know catholic children (i realize that narrows it down to like two of you)...
next week i'm going to a luncheon that my best friend is having, to celebrate that her 7-year-old is getting his first communion and her baby is being baptized. i have NO IDEA what kinds of gifts you bring to something like this. do you give the parents a baptism gift? or the baby? what do you get a boy for his first communion, other than a bible or some religious token he doesn't want? (is money appropriate? how much?)
i am so completely clueless...

Date: 2006-05-11 09:10 pm (UTC)I normally get a piece of jewelry if its a girl. LIke a chain for when she's older. I've gotten things like precious moment figurines etc.
I've gotten some pretty blankets, or fancy religious night lights. if You can find some cute religious things that's aren't too gawdy.
For the communion for a boy?? good luck! lol
I hate buying gifts for both these things. Normally i'll call the mom and say what should i get, instead of getting something useless.
I got my godchild a gold bracelet for her communion but girls are so much easier to buy for.
duh...

Date: 2006-05-12 01:52 pm (UTC)Mementos seem to trend toward the girl-ish, so I might go for cash. Or a savings bond or a CD or something(boring for the kid, but more forward-looking than cash).
