the house craziness begins...

swingchickiei knew it'd be a whirlwind if i got the dream house. but now that i'm in it, it's just cracking me up. all of a sudden, i need to write checks to this person and that, the house needs to be inspected within a few days (which means i need to take a half day off of work), i need to finalize my mortgage and find a mover again and PACK again. it's a hoot.
everyone's reactions have been cracking me up too:
mom: i KNEW you'd get it! as soon as i saw that painting in the living room (they have the same print that i have in my dining room), i knew that house was yours!
the ex (via e-mail): LOL!!!!! can i sit and drink a lemonade and watch you mow that big lawn???
me (via e-mail): are you kidding? I'M going to sit and drink a lemonade and watch my new lawn-boy Lars mow it...
the ex: "Lars, my mint julep needs more ice..."
me: "Lars, i thought i told you to wear the shortie-shorts this time... i am displeased..."
realtor: i think it was the note that got them! (i dorked out yesterday and wrote them a hand-written note on a nice little notecard, telling them how much i loved the house and that i hoped they accepted my bid.)
even dad, who doesn't show a lot of extreme emotion, whooped loudly and grabbed my hands across the table when i told him over breadsticks at Olive Garden tonight. we had a glass of champagne to celebrate, and spent the whole time talking about the house (i tried to talk about my uncle, but dad just talked about him for a sec and then wanted to get back to the house conversation. welcome to my family, where avoidance is genetic.).
i tried to explain it to angus, but i don't think he gets it. i grabbed him and squished his soft belly and smooched his head, and told him "ANGUS!!!!! MOMMA IS BUYING A HOUSE!!! WE'RE GONNA OWN A HOME, BABY BOY! DO YOU UNDERSTAND????" and he just looked at me and made his "eh, eh, eh" noise, which is not a sound of understanding. oh well, he'll get it when he's sitting in the window watching all the birds on the back deck. whee!
