1. C called last night to make plans for the weekend... our 1st date. awwwww. the plan is furniture shopping for his new townhouse, dinner, and a movie. it's like my dream date -- helping someone spend money, eating, and visual stimulation! whee! one thing i'm really digging about C is that he's so up-front... none of the coy stuff that people normally do when they first develop an interest in someone. normally it's like, "hey, if you want to hang out this weekend, that'd be cool... no biggie, let me know..." with C, it's "i can't wait to see you, let's make plans for saturday, and let's so something next week as well." *grin* so much fun.

2. switching gears... anyone have any advice on giving blood? i've never done it, and there's a blood drive here on thursday that i'm thinking i should take part in. but i'm really nervous about feeling really weak for a long time afterwards... my energy levels are always so wonky, i'm afraid it'll knock me for a loop for days. i thought i wouldn't be able to do it since i got my tattoo last summer (they want you to wait a year)... but i believe massachusetts regulates their tattoo places, which means it's okay. hrm.

I've never given blood [due to my various medical conditions and the meds I take for them], so I have no personal experience to draw upon. You could always ask the person in charge what they think and make a decision then. And tattoo? *brain lapse* I don't remember you speaking of one, although you might have and I've simply forgotten. Do you have a pic? Or is it in one of those I-gotta-know-ya-real-well-if-you-wanna-see-it locations? hehe ;)

Like I said, I was having a *brain lapse*! LOL

Of course, the second I saw the link and clicked it, and without scrolling down to see, I remembered what it is :)

i know that its really fun to get drunk after you give blood.

I've never done it because i'm a wimp but in highschool everyone used to give blood and then get drunk faster.

~shrug~ not what you asked huh? lol

So... even though I can't give blood, I should go anyway, have them remove the requisite amount, toss it down the drain and go hit the nearest bar? hehe :)

YES!!!

I used to give blood a lot and only noticed fatigue if I was playing sports that day. If you're well hydrated and take advantage of the juice and cookies (major sugar high) afterwards, you should be fine.

The one thing for me is that I always get woozy and usually pass out. Shots, giving blood, blood samples, anything. If you feel yourself getting faint, force yourself to cough and that will force blood to your brain.

I've only given platelets, not blood, but you lose about a pint in the process anyway.

I did get a bit woozy... crackers and juice help a lot. Don't plan anything active for a couple of hours afterward. Make sure you've had plenty to drink (and eat) before. SIT DOWN if you feel light-headed (or even lie down).

If I recall correctly, it takes around 24 hours to replenish your blood supply, so it's unlikely you'd be wonky for longer than that.
