someone please shoot me the next time i take a nap at 4pm on a sunday. there is no good that can come of it... you wake up groggy, and then can't get to sleep a few hours later. i tossed and turned last night until 3am... needless to say, i did not get up at 5 this morning to work out. dammit.

what an odd weekend. i got a lot done, and yet was still a total slug. i did 7 loads of laundry, completely switched out my winter and spring clothes, cleaned the apartment, did all my weekend errand stuff, even shopped for some spring clothes for work. the rest of the time (besides my saturday lunch date) i napped and just generally vegged out.

i should have spent most of the weekend cruising in the convertible, but it was so odd... i didn't know where the hell to go. yesterday when i left the mall, it was 2pm and the weather was stunning... i put the top down, cranked up my rusted root CD, and headed south on 202... but after about 20 minutes of driving, it hit me that i really didn't know where i was going or what i was going to do. like, where do you go when it's a nice day and you have the top down on the car and you're by yourself? i've been through the park a million times already, and every other place i could think of to drive around is just... roads. driving through boring towns. maybe i need to start making a list of fun weekend places to drive to... i'd hate to look back at the summer and think that i didn't take full advantage of this car.

and oh... if anyone has a good way to get a lot of salt out of one's system, i'd gladly take the advice. i went crazy with salty foods this weekend, and i'm retaining so much water, my rings don't even fit. nasty.

about retaining fluid

Drink lots of water. You retain fluid when your body goes into draught mode. If it doesn't get enough fluid, the body will start to conserve the fluids it has. If you want to get rid of water, drink water. As you begin to rehydrate your body will get rid of what it doesn't need.

it seems to be working. i drank a large iced decaf this morning (worth 3 glasses of water), and my fingers are going to back to normal size. i just want some of this water-retention weight gone by my weigh-in tomorrow! argh!

I've heard the old "drink more water and you'll retain less" story as well, so I guess it's worth a try. Just be sure to have a clear path to the bathroom when you start drinking ;)

[I think this is similar to the "drink a hot beverage to cool off" theory, but I'll still to an ice-cold beer to do the job, thanks... hehe :)]

I'm a bad pal and don't remember where you live. But if you're down this way, Route 100 is a great drive.

Or, if you have a Rand McNally map, any road that has dots lining the road will indicate that it is a Certified Scenic Highway. Always a good call.
