talk about a bad night's sleep. i tossed and turned from this painful knot in my neck and shoulder... i guess my work stress has caused the muscles along my pinched nerve's route to seize up, and it hurts like hell. so it wasn't so much "tossed and turned" as "awoke to a painful twinge and had to gingerly reposition myself to try to ease the pain, over and over again". then just as i started to actually sleep, around 2am angus turned into a holly terror -- scratching at the bed, walking on my hair, scratching again. finally at 4am i got up to feed him, in the hopes that he'd calm down and jack and i could get 90 more minutes of sleep. except the act of going downstairs and feeding him meant i was fully awake by the time i got back into bed. now i'm sitting here checking e-mail and drinking coffee while jack is snoring away upstairs. grrrrrrrrrr.
this won't be good for tonight's junior brown concert. i'm going to be an exhausted mess. AND i have to miss the VP debates, waaaah. i hope this weekend i can rest and stop being so pissy and tired.
ETA: now that it's a few hours later and i'm caffeinated, it's hit me that i had some good stuff happen yesterday evening that took the day from "suck" to "much better". i came home from a late day at work to find jack at my house, turns out he came over right from work and spent several hours cleaning out my gutters, digging a trench on one side so that there was better runoff, and adding longer spouts to lead more water away from the house. total surprise. i cooked while he finished up, and we had a nice candlelit dinner with a glass of my favorite wine... then we watched "project runway" and listened to downloadable music for the hooping video i'm planning. so while the week on a whole has been made of "bleh", my evening with him was a bright spot. :)
