givin' thanks
Nov. 23rd, 2006 09:20 amahhhhhh. i'm all slept-up, angus has his breakfast (turkey and giblet cat food for the holiday... that stuff is SO gross), and i have my hot cup of coffee at hand. so i'm gonna sit and take a few moments to reflect on everything i'm thankful for today.
* i'm thankful for having a job and co-workers i really like. despite all the stress, enjoying the important stuff in my job makes it all bearable.
* i'm thankful that i have a great manager who sees my contributions to the department and acknowledges them... she left me a voicemail yesterday, and told me to take 2 extra vacation days in december to make up for some of the long hours i've been putting in.
* i'm thankful that i'm healthy. i know i have a chunk of weight i'd like to lose, but others have it much worse than me.
* i'm thankful that angus is happy and healthy, and becoming loving-er and meow-y-er and snuggly-er every day.
* i'm thankful that, even though i'm still torn apart over monkey, i had 11 wonderful years with her. that i got the chance to love her as much as i did, and that in my heart i know no-one in the world could have loved her as much as me, because we were meant to have each other.
* i'm thankful that even though i'm in debt, it's because i've bought my first home, which i love so much and is an investment in my future.
* i'm thankful that i live in this country... that even though i might not be thrilled with our government and the state of affairs right now, as a US citizen i can talk about it as much as i want without fear of someone coming into my home in the middle of the night and dragging a family member away. i've lived in the middle east, i've lived in an environment where you can be arrested for even holding hands in public. i had friends in school with split earlobes from where soldiers ripped their earrings out of their ears as they were lined up in the school courtyard. so i'm thankful to live here, and hopeful for our future.
* i'm thankful for all the philly peeps i've made friends with over the last year, and the ones i've reconnected with now that i've moved back here. i can't believe it's been almost a year since i met
jeremym and
boutell at karaoke, it feels like that was years and years ago. and all of you whom i've met since -- it's been a blast to get to know you, and i look forward to much more hangin' out and ruckus-causin'.
* i'm thankful that i still have my parents, and that they're friends even though they've been divorced since i was 20. i'm glad that i'm now closer to them and my brother, so i can see them more than once or twice a year.
* i'm thankful for all the little day-to-day things that make me happy: dancing. DDR. karaoke. reading beauty magazines over sushi in my favorite restaurant. jammies. concerts. my awesome car that i'd marry if it were legal. waking up with angus's big fuzzy face looking at me. reading LJ. sex dwarf!!!!
happy thanksgiving everyone, i {squoosh} you all!!!!!
*smoochie*
