*drip, drip*
Jul. 16th, 2006 08:11 pmi am an absolute sweatball right now. i went out to try to break down all of the branches my neighbor cut off my trees last week (yeah, she trimmed my trees as a "surprise" and then left the branches for me to deal with)... i managed to get through one pile, but the other two were unmanageable -- huge thick branches, and me with nothing to cut them down. just from that and sweeping the deck and driveway, i am soaking wet and desperate for a shower. ah, the joys of owning a home.
i met some more neighbors this evening... the sweet woman down the street brought her 3 kids over to give me a bottle of wine and say hi. i'm still trying to get the hang of this suburban neighbor thing... should i be going to these peoples' houses to say hi once in a while? or do i just wait and see if i see them outside? i still have too much "city" in me.
i had an awesome weekend, despite the fact that i had to work on saturday (our trainees had to go through "defensive driving" class, and i had to sit there in the back of the room for 8 hours). friday night i had a second date with the young guy from a couple of weeks ago... we went to BlobFest, an annual celebration of the movie "the blob" in phoenixville. WHEE! the movie theater scene in "the blob" was filmed at the colonial movie theater in town, so every year they throw a weekend party with music and movie memorabilia and a reenactment of the big movie-theater-screaming scene. they had some of the actual blob material from the movie, a crappy rockabilly band, and 3-D t-shirts (complete with 3-D glasses... i need to bring them with me when i wear the t-shirt). and the reenactment... oh my god, what a riot. we grabbed a spot across the street from the theater and i got my camera ready... when they gave the signal, a couple hundred people came shrieking out of the theater, and we just died laughing. the best part was that the screamers, in all the excitement, forgot that as they were running out, they had to step off the sidewalk into the street... and over and over again, people were running out of the theater, missing the curb, and doing a face-plant right in the asphalt. i just about died.
last night was bowling in the city with
dhpdesign. we went to lucky strike lanes, which i'd been dying to go to for a while (the one in boston is awesome). we lounged on the big couches, with drinkies and awesome food (deep-fried mac & cheese balls, *drool*)and he completely kicked my ass on the lanes. this morning i slept in, had breakfast at the local deli, and then procrastinated at target (found a cute little summer suit! yay!) and napped for a couple of hours. definitely a nice way to end the weekend. :)
