best birthday present EVER!
Oct. 28th, 2004 08:01 amyeah, i'd say the sox winning the world series has to be a damn good birthday gift. the day was pretty mellow, i had lunch with a few co-workers (south beach friendly -- broiled fish and sauteed spinach) and treated the rest of it as a regular workday. in the evening, had some friends over to watch the game. the game itself wasn't incredibly exciting (although a home run on the 2nd pitch of the game was pretty bitchin'), so we all talked and laughed and crossed our fingers for the team.
when we finally won, we could hear all hell break loose in davis square, and we had to walk in and check it out. everyone was pouring out of the bars, whooping it up with huge grins on their faces. it was actually kind of funny, because i guess i expected more action... instead it was just a bunch of drunk people wandering around, going "wooooo!" at anyone who would "woo" back. all the revelers were on either side of the street, and cars cruised through the square with their windows down, horns honking and occupants leaning out the windows to "slap five" with people in the crowd as they passed. it was a fun scene... the lunar eclipse was going on, their air was cool and crisp, and everyone was exploding with joy.
i finally got to bed around 1am. how am i supposed to present at a meeting this afternoon, when i'm running on 5 hours sleep? eek.
