random thoughts from the last couple of days.

* friday night before i went dancing, i thought i'd be cool and use this new shampoo... it's got henna in it, so it's supposed to enhance the color of your hair if you're a redhead. cut to a few hours later, when i'm in the ladies room at the club, blotting the sweat off my face... and i realize the sweat is the color of rust. *sigh* i guess i didn't rinse it out as well as i should have.

* driving home from furniture shopping yesterday... a big dude in a pickup truck passes me, and as he does, he slows down alongside me and calls out, "i love your haircut!" i swear to god. totally weird.

* one of the ex's friends called last night to see how i was doing. not only is she one of his best friends, she's also one of his ex-girlfriends... so she has more of an insight into our breakup than other people would. she called to offer support, which was sweet, but i told her i'm fine. she still wants to hang out with me sometimes. she's a nice girl, i'm sure i'll see her once in a while.

* the cats are getting boarded again today for most of the week. god, i hate this. tonight's going to be a lonely sleep night without them.

the austin powers room is on its way to being complete! how psyched am i?!?!

as some fo you guys know, i have a room in my apartment that i jokingly call the "austin powers room". it's partly my office, partly a lounge-y area for people to hang in (especially if i ever getting around to throwing a party, need to look into that!). i've wanted a room like this for years, mostly because it's just totally juvenile and fun. so when i found this apartment, the ex and i had agreed that it would be half-office, half-austin powers. the problem is, it quickly became an absolute mess... we were just buying stuff for it willy-nilly, with no real concept to it. so instead of being a cool, slick room to hang in, it was like this explosion of colors and crap. like, you'd have a seizure walking into the room.

so, anyway... last night, davissquarecats and his roomie came over, and took away the 2 pieces that were driving me the most bonkers: a giant blue velvet hand-shaped chair, and an ottoman shaped like a yellow puzzle piece. i know they will have a fantastic home with the guys. (and i'm bummed i didn't walk home with them... supposedly they got quite a few stares when they sat in the big hand waiting for the light to change. *chortle*) in their place, i have gone all "trading spaces", and started to make the room the funky haven that i so richly deserve.
