why?
this is why:

now i understand why there were fire trucks in front of my building friday evening. the whole laundry room is trashed... soot everyhere, and those dryers are completely melted... ugh. but the caution tape adds a little cheery color, don't you think?
i'm also pissy because i got a UPS package yesterday... the dressy winter jacket i ordered back in november to wear on new year's eve. so nice of newport news to finally ship it, when they'd promised it for mid-december. what a bummer too, it would have been a scream to have it:

it's cream faux fur, quilted, and YES covered in rhinestones, and huge and poufy and completely ghetto-fabulous. and i have nowhere else to wear it, dammit, so i'm sending it back.
last night's surprise party was a blast.... so the party wasn't really a surprise, C's husband had figured it out a while back, but he still had a ball. there were about 100 people there, mostly family, which was awesome because his family's german and C's family is irish, and that combo means a major open bar and lots of craziness. :) C's family is awesome because they're all super-close and really funny, and so there was a lot of crazy dancing and singing and random irish old men grabbing me and going, "jaysus, look at ye! yer adarrrrable!" hee.
so, photos... here's me with C (on my right) and G (on my left)... i haven't seen G since high school (i didn't go to the same high school as them). we used to all go to the dances at their school together, and i swear to god she has not changed one bit:

someone tipped off the band that C and i used to go to karaoke together in our early 20s, and so the band asked us to come up and sing with them. the only song we could think of, you can all cringe with me, was "love shack". hee. later on in the evening, the leader of the band actually asked me to get back up with them and sing "aimee" (is that how you spell it?). that was flattering beyond belief. (plus he does session work with jon bon jovi, he just played the CMAs with him... so i'm like 2 degrees of separation rom bon jovi! w00t!)

oh, and i would just like to say that i rock my own world right now, because i figured out how to reconfigure my computer to be able to access e-mail via dialup until my DSL is set up. *happy dance*

"But... I thought they'd dry faster that way... *puzzled look*"
:)
Glad you had fun last night ["adarrrrable" *chuckle*]. And that coat, it makes you look like a present, with a gold ribbon and bow and everything!! ;)
[yeah, I'll be quiet now... heh *wiggling eyebrows*]
